The highly anticipated Hatten Cares Charity Dinner 2013 was held on the 20th April 2013 at the Hatten Hotel Grand Ballroom. This exclusive charity event was organised in order to raise funds for the construction of Kechara Forest Retreat.
The occasion was graced by VIPs from the Kechara House organization, Datuk May Phng and Dato’ Ruby Khong along with the hosts for the night, Hatten Group’s top management: Chairman, Dato’ Eric Tan, CEO, Mr. Edwin Tan and Group Managing Director, Mr. Colin Tan.
The night began with a 5.30pm cocktail hour where guests had a chance to mingle while exploring an elaborate walkthrough exhibition focusing on the beneficiary of the night, Kechara House for Kechara Forest Retreat.
The event commenced at 7.30pm with the official launch of Hatten Cares very own video clip with a special introduction and welcome from renowned emcees of the night, Jiang Pei Pei and Mark Felix. This was followed by heartfelt speeches of thanks and appreciation by Mr. Colin Tan, Dato Eric Tan, Datuk May Phng and Dato Ruby Khong.
Throughout the night, guests were entertained by the smooth jazz sounds of the WVC Trio+1 and the amazing vocals of local artiste, Winnie Ho while enjoying a sumptuous eight-course banquet dinner (vegetarian), courtesy of Kechara Oasis and Hatten Hotel’s Executive Chef, Kelvin Chuah.
The event reached a high note with a 30 minute act by famous local comedian, Douglas Lim, who had the crowd in stitches the moment he stepped up on stage. The evening ended with an amazing solo vocal performance by Kechara’s James Long who awed the crowd with his inspiring and uplifting medley of songs.
However, the highlight of the night was undoubtedly the Charity Auction sessions. Guests were very eager and generously placed their bids for the especially sponsored items that featured exquisite pieces from luxury brands Mouawad, Anne AL Tay, Buddhist artifacts donated by Kechara House and a vintage Vespa motor scooter.
